A new learning-based hybrid model to predict diabetic nephropathy

چکیده :
Abstract—Diabetic nephropathy, a major complication of type 1 and type 2 diabetes, impacts roughly one-third of diabetic patients in the United States. Early intervention is essential to prevent or slow disease progression and minimize complications. However, challenges such as the complexity of numerous diabetic features and limitations of existing algorithms have driven researchers to seek more accurate and efficient methods. This study presents a novel hybrid model, DNP-MTC, for predicting diabetic nephropathy. It employs the Trees Social Relations (TSR) algorithm to extract key features fed into a Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP) neural network. The Coral Reefs Optimization (CRO) algorithm optimizes the network's parameters. Experimental results demonstrate that this model outperforms state-of-the-art algorithms in accuracy and performance while offering superior explainability, making it a promising tool for early diagnosis.
